Customer fears that the United States’ trade policy could increase AESSEAL’s prices in Canada have been eased thanks to the Canada-United Kingdom Trade Continuity Agreement.
Products made in the UK, and sold and serviced in Canada by AESSEAL®, remain free of the new U.S. tariffs thanks to the TCA establishing a free trade area between Canada and the UK, promoting economic development, and eliminating trade barriers.
Bank of Canada governor Tiff Macklem commented there was: “considerable uncertainty” tied to the United States’ global tariff campaign. The early tariffs and threats have hit consumer confidence across the country and Macklem said businesses already had enough to worry about, adding: “The dramatic protectionist shift in U.S. trade policy and the chaotic delivery have increased uncertainty, roiled financial markets, diminished global growth prospects and raised inflation expectations.”
He warned:
The future is no clearer. We still do not know what tariffs will be imposed, whether they’ll be reduced or escalated, or how long all of this will last.
